Week 11 -May 7 - 11, 2007

Since I started CO-OP in February I have noticed that I have become for assertive. I am not as shy with the students as I was when this CO-OP first started. I feel that I am more in control, and the students actually listen to me. I have also learned a lot about myself. I am a lot more organized than I imagined. I find myself to be much more neater than before. To show initiative at my workplace, you have to be able to control the students, have to be able to raise your voice, have to have people skills, must be able to talk in front of a large group of people and students. This placement has made me realize how difficult the teaching career is. Teachers have to continuously mark stuff, have to make sure every student is safe at school, have to make sure no bullying is happening at the school, spend a lot of time outside of school marking or coaching. Even though I now know what you need to do to become a teacher and when you become a teacher, but I still want to become a teacher not matter what challenges I have to face. Since I have been at St. Andrew school for 11 weeks I feel a lot more comfortable talking to everyone, at the beginning I was shy, but now I am able to talk to the different staff and especially the students. I never used to really interact with the students, but now I am also helping them talking to them and joking around with them. After each week goes by I know this placement is a great experience and in the long run will help me.
